Keeping Your Skin Hydrated this Winter

Today I am going to share with you some dōTERRA products that I love to use during the cold months to keep my skin and hair hydrated.

SKIN:

I continue to use the Verage skincare from dōTERRA but I throw an extra bottle of moisturizer in the car or in the diaper bag.  I apply the moisturizer more than just once a day.  I will even use it after applying my make up and it doesn't ruin the look.  I like to alternate using the other moisturizers from the other skincare lines dōTERRA carries as well.  Moisturizer is key with the dry air.

HAIR:

I use the whole hair line in the winter months: shampoo, conditioner, root-to-tip serum, and the glaze.  In the summer I only use the shampoo and conditioner, but I will tell you these other two products bring the hydration your head is screaming for during the winter months.  The glaze I use about a dime sized amount of and rub all though out my wet hair. For the root-to-tip serum, I use 1 pump in my fingertips when I am done styling my hair and only apply to the tips of my hair.  A little bit goes a long ways with both of these products

EXTRA ASSISTANCE

Hair

Hair = Beard Oil, yup thats right.  You could rename this one for sure but I used my husbands beard oil when I was having a really bad week of itchy dry scalp.  It worked so fast.  I loved it so much that now it is something I do weekly.  I put this recipe in a dropper top bottle.  I use a dropper-full in the palm of my hand and massage vigorously into my scalp.  I do the top and then flip my hair over and make sure I massage the underside too; waking up all of my hair roots with massage.  I apply this before getting into the shower and then be sure to shampoo and rinse well.  This is also a great blend for hair growth.

Recipe:

  • 4oz dropper bottle

  • 1/2 filled with Avocado Oil

  • 1/2 filled with Grapeseed (you just want equal parts of the above two ingredients)

  • Splash of vitamin E oil

  • Splash of Caster oil

  • 3 drops each: Rosemary, Cedarwood, Lavender, Balance

Skin

Bring in some extra oils! There are lots of great ones to choose from for skin health including Frankincense, Melaleuca, Lavender, Cedarwood, Yarrow-Pom, And Blue Tansy.

You can start with the body butter from dōTERRA and add a few drops of one (or a few) of the oils listed above and apply all over your body right after your shower.  Pat dry first and then lather up.  Skin needs hydration and right after the shower, when your pores are open, is a perfect time to show your skin some extra care. Of course applying a few times a day is going to be very beneficial too.

Let me know what results you see from trying out some of the above recommendations!!!
