Lavender

Lavender is a go to oil for so many ailments.  The two words associated with this essential oil are calming and soothing.  Lavender means “to wash” in Latin, and is likely the most used oil globally for good reason.  Skin and emotions are two of the top uses in our household for this oil.  Because of its amazing properties that it brings to the table, it is found in 8+ of doTERRAs essential oil blends.

Aromatic description:

Floral and sweet

Body systems effected:

  • Cardiovascular

  • Nervous

  • Emotional

  • Skin

My top uses:  

  • Stress

  • Anxious feelings

  • Burns (sun or stove top)

  • Skin wounds

  • Bites of any kind

  • Rash of any kind

  • Restful sleep

  • Turning brain off

  • Aches and pains

  • Seasonal threats

  • Teething

  • Head tension

  • Eyes that are pink (around the eye not in it)

  • and so much more

How to use: A=aromatically T=topically  I=internally

  • Apply directly to the area of concern when it comes to anything skin related. 

  • For emotional relaxation and calming apply to feet, chest over heart, ears, and back of neck. 

  • Safe to take internally when battling seasonal threats, inflammation and more.

Blends well with: 

It is one that I think smells great with citrus, woodsy, spices, floral, and mint. So in other words most everything, honestly.

Favorite Diffuser Blend

Restful Sleep

  • 4 drops Breathe

  • 4 drops Lavender

  • Notes: Great especially when congested

Calm + Confident

  • 2 drops Wild Orange

  • 2 drops Bergamot

  • 2 drops Lavender

Focus

  • 2 drops Lavender

  • 4 drops Frankincense

  • 2 drops Peppermint

Favorite Roller Ball Blend

Skin

  • 3 drops Lavender

  • 3 drops Melaleuca

  • 3 drops Frankincense

  • Top off with Fractionated Coconut Oil 

Seasonal Threats

  • 3 drops Lavender

  • 3 drops Peppermint

  • 3 drops Lemon

  • Top off with Fractionated Coconut Oil 

Sleep

  • 3 drops Lavender

  • 3 drops Frankincense

  • Top off with Fractionated Coconut Oil

I share this knowing that I am not the only Mother who has been down this road with their littles.  We were outside, and it was cloudy. I was not thinking about the beautiful sunshine burning our skin and turning us red because it was cool and windy. I am talking RED. Not that little tender pink skin, but red. 

My poor babies.  I hurt too so I knew how miserable they were.  Thank goodness for this gem.  As we all lathered up with coconut oil and lavender we felt the instant relief of pain, the calming effects on our skin, and the rejuvenating effects turned our red to tan in just a few days.  I felt empowered as a mother (although I did still feel so horrible) with thee best burn cream hands down.
