Dreams to Reality

2019 brought a dream come true right out of the gates.

A passion that my husband and I have had for many years now is to own land that would allow our littles to run free and explore. We wanted enough land to grow and see our food from beginning to end. It seemed like a VERY long process to come to life. Lots of ups and downs along the journey. Potential properties fell through, defeating moments, and others ideas that made us question what God wanted for our life.

As always, God's plan is better than any we can think up, and looking back I can see the truth in this. During the process, however, it's a bit frustrating and emotionally draining.

We have just under 5 acres of land, which is perfect for the little homestead we want. After living here for 2 months, we already have a bottle calf for my oldest sons Clover Kids (4H) project, 75 meat chickens, 19 layers + 1 rooster, and 6 ducks. We are diving all in and learning as we go. Truthfully YouTube, books, and magazines are our go to education right now.

Did you know cows fart? Okay, yes I get that all things fart, but seriously!!!! Only one of the many things I have learned already.

I am going to be documenting a lot of what we have already done and will be doing at our homestead. Lots of indoor and outdoor projects are in the works already, and our dream board is full to the brim with ideas of what this space will include. We are learning along the way as we both come from urban families. Thank goodness my sister married a farmer because he is a wealth of knowledge.

I'm excited to share and be able to document the process for us to look back on!
