How to Avoid the Dreaded Halloween Candy
Halloween = Candy
UGH! Not only do my kids wake up asking for candy, but then when I hide the stash... this Mom has no will power and end up feeling crummy too!!
First…
FUN HALLOWEEN SNACKS
Can I even go here? Haha! I have found that many times making healthy food fun ends up making the candy "wants" disappear. Here are a few of my ides AND including your kiddos letting them make the pumpkin faces well you may even get more fun mom points. Not all are 100% healthy but they are still a better option. Did I mention fun?
Ghost String Cheese
String Cheese Ghost - take a marker and draw on some fun ghost like drawings to the wrapper of the string cheese. Pack them in your kids lunch to give them a special treat at school!
On Guard Apples
Soak apple slices in On Guard and water for about 5 minutes drain and serve with caramel. Caramel isn't super healthy, however its better then the 5+ pieces of candy they are wanting.
Pumpkin Oranges
Pumpkin Oranges OR Mandarine Oranges - Take a marker and draw a pumpkin face onto the top of your oranges. Even you want to be even more fun - let your kids join in the fun and draw in themselves!
Banana Ghosts
Banana Ghosts - Bananas cut in half then use Raisins or chocolate chips to make your ghost face
Apple Teeth
Apple Teeth - Cut apples off core. Then take each piece and make it into two pieces. (Will make 4 mouths) Each side cut into two should pair up together nicely for mouth. Put natural peanut butter and marshmallows on to each piece and then put together. We like these healthier option of marshmallows.
Halloween Chex Mix
Chex Mix - the possibilities are endless! Add in a little spice of Halloween with some m&ms or candy corn/pumpkins.
Pumpkin Shaped Cheese
Use your Halloween Cookie Cutter to cut up cheese into fun shapes + serve with meat + crackers. Again, let you kids join in the fun - they will love getting their hands dirty!
It’s okay to give in…
Now for you mama (or little ones too when you cave and say ‘yes’ more then you should... we all do it!) after eating all that candy, you may need a little tummy support. If you are feeling all the sugar + have an upset stomach, give these a try:
Applying peppermint, digestzen, or tamer to your lower abdomen and around your tummy
Taking a Digestzen chewable or a Digestzen softgel
Ingesting 1-3 Terrazyme, which is doTERRA's enzymes supplement (For little ones: break it open an sprinkle on food. It has no taste and will be a game changer on their digestive system.)
Time to get that sugar out of those achy guts!
