Summer Camping Necessities
Summer Camping
We love enjoying the beautiful outdoors as a family. Camping has evolved over the years for us. From tent camping, to now owning a travel trailer, it's something we continue to enjoy. Some of these items are because we are in a camper now, but I hope that you find this list to be helpful when you go to pack up and enjoy the wilderness. Even if it's just for a hike and picnic in the woods for the day.
Some facts that might help you take this list a bit more seriously:
Out of 2,000 sunscreens reviewed, more than 75% were found to contain toxic chemicals.
Common side effects for insect repellents include skin reactions, allergic rashes, and eye irritation.
Many topical medicated creams for insect bites, itches and irritation have side effects causing redness, irritation, and swelling.
What We Take Camping
LLV + Mito2Max + Pb Assist + Terrazymes + A2Z + Omega + PB Assist Jr - These supplements are the foundation of our health and nutrition, so no matter where we are, and what we are doing, we don't miss a day. Being sure my whole family stays on track is important.
First Aid Kit - You never know what will come up, and with this kit we are always fully prepared.
Bug Spray: There is a lot of us, so my recipe is for a big batch which will last a long while. Be sure to shake before each use.
8oz spray bottle
1 15ml bottle terrasheild
2 T Witch Hazel or Vodka
(You can stop here but we like to amp ours up to help ward off other bugs besides just mosquitoes)
10 drops Peppermint
10 drops Geranium
10 drops Purify
10 drops Lemongrass
10 drops Cedarwood
Bug Bite Stick: 10ml roller 3 drops Purify + 3 drops Lemon + 3 drops Lavender + 3 drops Frankincense + 3 drops Tea Tree topped with fractionated coconut oil.
Fly / Ant Spray / Cooling Spray: This bottle is a multi purpose spray. We use this in our camper window sills, in our doorways, in the air when the flies are being pesky, and when we are outside in the hot and humid Iowa weather needing to cool down.
4oz spray bottle
25-50 drops Peppermint
After Sun Spray : This bottle of goodness stays in our fridge and is used every single time we are camping. It is soothing, calming, and rejuvenating to your skin after a long day in the sun.
Stain Stick: Lets be honest. When you're camping, stains happen. You don't usually do laundry until you get home, giving those stains more time to settle in. I have two different Recipes.
Recipe for Spot Treatment
10ml Roller filled with On Guard Cleaning Concentrate
10 drops lemon
5 drops melaleuca
Recipe for larger stain:
4 oz spray bottle
10 drops Lemon
10 drops Melaleuca
1-2 T On Guard concentrate
1/2 bottle filled with vinegar
1/2 bottle filled with distilled water
Triease: We stay on top of my husbands seasonal threats with these amazing supplements. You can make your own with a veggie cap + 1-2 drops each peppermint, lemon, and lavender. You can also whip up a 10ml roller + 5-10 drops each of these oils applying topically to the bottom of little toes + on ears.
Oils for a great nights rest: A lot of us sleeping in close quarters after long days calls for some sleep assistance. We love using a sound machine and our diffuser.
Lumo diffuser
5 Peace
5 Serenity
2 Cedarwood
2 Vetiver
2 Onguard
2 Breathe
All Purpose spray: We use this to clean anything and everything.
8oz spray bottle
2 T On Guard Concentrate
10 drops Lemon Or Wild Orange
Hand Sanitizer: The kids come in from riding their bikes straight to snacking on veggie straws or grapes. We have a few different bottles of hand sanitizer sitting around to spritz their hands.
4oz spray bottle
25 drops On Guard
2 T fractionated coconut oil
*Shake before each use
Lemongrass: We like to leave a bottle of lemongrass on the counter top in the bathroom. Put a few drops in the toilet after each use! Keeps the small bathroom smelling fresh. Poo Poo Spray is another option to whip up.
Sunscreen: This item right here you NEED to get your hands on for the summer sun. You need to ditch your toxic and expensive store bought sunscreens for this all natural option that the whole family will enjoy. It's not only all natural, but doubles up as a bug repellent too! A little goes a long ways, and once you try this sunscreen you will never look back.
Deep Blue and Rescuer: For the sore muscles after enjoying long hikes. My little girly tends to get really bad pains after long days of activity, so we are never without our roller Rescuer. My husband and I enjoy the Deep Blue Rub.
Pet bug/tick/flea spray:
24 oz spray bottle
2 cups apple cider vinegar
2 T olive oil
2 T all natural dish soap
10 drops each Terrasheild, Geranium, Rosemary, Lavender, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Purify, Cedarwood
